Coblentz Timeline

1987

October 30, 1987: Coblentz Chocolate Company opens in Walnut Creek, Ohio. Our team of three employees crafts 40 varieties of hand-dipped, homemade chocolates.

We sell 200+ pounds of chocolate during our first week in business.

1988

We welcome nearly 100 customers to our store each day. Popular items include our hand-dipped chocolate-covered cherries and peanut clusters.

Coblentz Chocolates enters into a new mail-order business.

1989

Our business moves into marketing wholesale chocolates to retailers.

1991

We open a second kitchen to meet growing demand for our hand-crafted chocolate.

The Dutch Delights line of wrapped chocolates is introduced.

1999

The Coblentz Chocolates team grows to 24 employees. We produce 2,000 pounds of 70 different types of chocolate each week.

2001

We finish a 7,200 square-foot expansion and renovation of our facility. It's complete with new production areas and a viewing gallery where visitors can watch delicious confections being created.

2002

For the first time, we offer our Signature, Swiss-style Chocolate Truffles during the holiday season.

2003

Jason Coblentz makes the world's largest buckeye candy during the Big Buckeye Birthday Bash in Dennison, Ohio. The buckeye weighed 275 pounds.

2007

Coblentz Chocolates marks 20 years in business with a week-long anniversary celebration in autumn. It features our first grand tasting event, which includes candy kabob and chocolate pretzel making.

2008

A new chocolate melter and cooling conveyor are added to our operations, enhancing our production capacity and capabilities.

We debut our new promotions including rewards cards, and enjoy an increase in delivery orders via our website.

2010

Jason and Mary's four children have worked in various positions at Coblentz Chocolates Company.

2012

We add 4,500 square feet of space to our facility as we begin our 25th year in business.

2013

Jason & Mary's handmade, oversized treats are branded and sold retail and wholesale.

2016

We add 10,800 square feet of production off site but near our location.

2017

Happy anniversary! Coblentz Chocolates celebrates 30 years in business. Our team of 65 full and part-time employees now produces 114 varieties of chocolates.
